The event started with a promotional film starring Steffie Broere. After the film, the real Steffie entered the stage and invited the audience to come and try some of the delicious Dutch food that had been shown in the film. She invited people in English, French and German.

People enjoyed this food sampling very much.

Margreet Dijk and Bouke Jasper appeared in Volendam costume and stole the show. Several of the Dutch film enthusiasts sponsored the event.

Bernard Vink had brought along an entire Gouda cheese including various condiments. Bouke Jasper offered caramel waffles, known as stroopwafels, also from Gouda. They clearly were popular as it took festival goers no time at all to empty two big boxes! Then there were the Figi biscuits, sponsored by Jos Ruijs, chairman of the Zeister podia. Jos was also present during the full week of the festival. Just before the 1-minute movie cup on Friday, he took a moment to encourage everybody to come to UNICA in Zeist next year.

Finally, people enjoyed Dutch jenever and a few other alcoholic beverages, which were sponsored by Jan Essing.

Judging by people’s reactions, the Dutch presentation clearly was a success.
